StarCraft 2 Patch 1.2.1 Live

by on Feb.16, 2011, under Software

Along with some battle.net downtime, Patch 1.2.1 went live last night. No changelog on the EU site as of the time of writing this. Feel free to view the patch-notes here: http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/blog/2298959#blog

BTW no posts on this blog in between the announcement of the patch and the patch itself. Poor me. Have to divert more time to this toy project of mine.

StarCraft 2 Patch 1.2.1 Development Information

by on Feb.05, 2011, under Software

Looks like five new 1v1 ladder maps are coming up soon, as well as some overall patching.

Matchmaking has been updated to better match players queuing with pre-made teams in 2v2, 3v3, and 4v4 brackets.

Whatever that means, it sounds interesting :D.

Aiur Chef, StarJeweled and Left2Die

by on Jan.28, 2011, under Software, StarCraft 2 Mods

… those official custom maps are now in beta testing, fire up a custom game and test the shit out of them NAOW!

More info and screenshots: http://eu.battle.net/sc2/en/blog/1735509#blog

I’m particularly interested in StarJeweled. I don’t know what it is about those darn “match three” puzzle games but they keep sucking me in ;).

World of Starcraft

by on Jan.19, 2011, under StarCraft 2 Mods

Usually I’m not that much into custom maps or playing games on them, but this one made me smile so it seems worth mentioning to me 😉 (keep in mind that it’s in pre-release state). Behold World of Starcraft:
Video removed by ActiBlizzard

P.S.: The developers are still looking for people that participate in the creation of this modification. Visit http://www.worldofstarcraft.proboards.com/ if you’re interested.

Edit: The mod is not going to be called “World of Starcraft” because of copyright issues with ActiBlizzard concerning that name in particular. From what I’ve read so far it may still happen though ;).

by on Dec.17, 2010, under Software

Step 3: Enter your email address correctly so we can get your battle cruiser I mean bundle operational!

http://www.humblebundle.com/

It’s worth whatever you pay. Braid and Machinarium alone are awesome games and Revenge of the Titans seems to be a nice tower defense game. Plus you’re doing something good. Ewww, did I just say that? You’ve got 4 days left, better hurry!

Edit: The availability of the bundle has been extended, you’ve stil got three days left (up to the 25th). If you spend more than the average you’ll get the Humble Indie Bundle #1 as a bonus gift ;).

Sc2gears

by on Dec.15, 2010, under Software

One of my neighbours seems to have some kind of party, rendering me sleepless. Well, Protagoras says: “There are two sides to every question.” So instead of asking myself why the hell I would miss lectures tomorrow, I asked myself what useful other things I could do to make up for missing lectures tomorrow.

And the great oracle of google brought me: Sc2gears. Though it seems to have some potential left for future development, it’s well worth a try. It offers nice replay analysis graphs, automatic replay saving (with dynamic filenames created according to your will) and from what I’ve read even APM warning sounds and whatnot.

General Zod says: KNEEL!

Although I’m pretty sure he meant to say: check it out! 😉

P.S.: Also, it’s written in Java so I can’t complain about it not running on my favourite OS :D.
